This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is collected, used, and protected when you use the CodexCV platform. CodexCV is available to users anywhere in the world, and this policy applies equally to all users.
1. Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and an encrypted version of your password. Any information you enter while building a CV (work experience, education, contact details, and any photo you upload) is stored and linked to your account. We also detect a visitor's country (from IP address, not precise location) to show the language-selection screen in the right language — this data isn't stored, it's only used for that single request. We use Vercel Analytics to track overall platform usage (such as which pages get visited most) — it doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you personally, only anonymous, aggregate statistics.
2. How we use your information
Your data is used solely to build your CV, manage your account, send you service-related notifications, and improve our service. We never sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
3. Who we share data with
We rely on a small number of technical partners to run the service: Vercel for hosting, Neon (PostgreSQL) for our database, and Resend for email notifications. When you use an AI-powered feature (CV import, translation, job-match scoring, bullet rewriting, cover letters, mentor review, interview practice), the relevant part of your CV text is sent to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI model) to process that request — this only happens when you actively trigger the feature yourself, never automatically in the background. Your card details (including your card number) are processed directly by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy — that data never passes through our own servers; Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record for these purchases. Each of these partners only accesses your data to provide their own technical service and may not use it for any other purpose.
4. Data protection
Passwords are stored encrypted, and sessions are managed using secure, time-limited tokens. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is ever 100% secure.
5. Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data and CVs are removed from our systems within a reasonable period, except where we're required by law to keep it longer.
6. International users
Our servers may be located outside Azerbaijan, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in. Users in the European Economic Area (EU/EEA) have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including data portability, the right to object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
7. Your rights
You can log in at any time to update your information or delete your CVs. The "Download my data" button on your account page lets you instantly download everything tied to your account (profile, CVs, portfolio, reference letters, job search tracker, and more) yourself, as a single JSON file — no need to contact us or wait. The "Danger zone" section on your account page lets you permanently delete your entire account and everything tied to it yourself, immediately — no need to contact us for that either. You can turn off "it's been a while" reminder emails at any time, either from account settings or via a one-click link in the email itself (no login required). 8. Children's privacy
CodexCV is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
9. Cookies
CodexCV uses only two strictly necessary cookies and sets no advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies: rc_session — a session cookie that remembers that you're logged in (deleted automatically on logout or after it expires), and rc_locale — a cookie that remembers your chosen language (Azerbaijani/Russian/English). These cookies don't require prior consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive or GDPR, since they're necessary for the service to function. Vercel Analytics runs entirely without cookies. You can delete these cookies at any time from your browser settings, though deleting rc_session will log you out.
