When to use it

For students applying to an internship, a summer placement or a trainee programme.

The full letter

Dear [Recruiter's name],

I am a [year]-year [subject] student at [University], and I would like to join the [programme name] internship at [Company name]. My interest in [field] began with [reason — a course, a project, personal experience], and I want to develop it through real work.

During my studies, in [course or project] I [what you did]. It taught me [skill — data analysis, presenting, research]. I also [languages and tools — for example, "speak English at B2 level and work with Excel and Power BI"].

What draws me to [Company name] in particular is [its projects, culture or approach to mentoring]. During the internship I want to [what you want to learn], and I can help the team with [what you can contribute].

Replace the parts [in square brackets] with your own details. Cut generic phrases; add specific facts and numbers.
